Trump Wanted to Sell Puerto Rico to Russia

President Donald Trump has been urging his aids to look into selling the US territory of Puerto Rico to Russia according to White House sources familiar with the discussion.
Trump’s interest in selling the territory begin after a conversation he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin just over a year ago. Trump expressed his frustration to Putin regarding the financial struggles Puerto Rico has had as well as the political damage it’s caused him. “They bring us lots of problems and nothing else. We get nothing in return by helping them.”  Trump stated to Putin. Putin suggested to Trump in English “I could take it off your hands for you. Russia is looking to expand.” The conversation came up in a discussion with Putin regarding disputed land between countries and border disputes. Trump responded to Putin’s offer stating: “I’m sure we can come up with a terrific deal.” Trump has since been urging aids to look into selling US territory that the US “does not need anymore.”  When news of the administration expressing interest in selling Puerto Rico was passed on to then Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Tillerson responded with dismay.

At first the aids did not indicate who suggested it. Just that it was suggested by another administration official. When indicating it was Trump that suggested it Tillerson told his aids to make sure Trump never expressed that idea publicly and that he would talk to him. This incident is around the same time Tillerson is reported to have called President Trump a “moron.”

The White House has declined to comment on the satirical story.
